Work
currently in progress
(for which faculties have been granted and projects in the making)
Maplebeck
(3, to be 4)
The three old bells have been rehung.
The old 2nd,
which could not be retuned to match the others, is now hung as a chiming bell
above the the new 5 bell frame. It had been planned to replace the old 2nd with
a bell from Lowdham Grange belonging to the diocese. Unfortunately that bell
proved faulty and a bell originally donated by The Ketek Trust for Thurgarton
has become the new second. The Keltek Trust has donated a fourth bell and money
has been donated from various sources, including the Bell Repair Fund, to hang
it. A faculty is currently being sought.
Plumtree
(6, to be 8)
Quotations have been
received and funds have been raised to augment this ring to eight. Particular
care is being taken to match the tuning of the original bells, which were cast a
couple of years before true harmonic tuning was perfected. The project proceeds
slowly because there are various interested parties to satisfy. While
objections have not been raised regarding removal of the existing clock
mechanism, repositioning of the clock face has not been acceptable to everyone
and remains to be discussed.
Clifton,
St Francis (5, to be 6)
Five bells have been
dedicated by the Bishop of Sherwood and will be hung, probably with a sixth,
later in the year.
Holme
Pierrepont (6)
The local band,
supported by the Guild, are raising funds to rehang these bells in a new frame
on one level. It is planned to improve the tuning of the bells and attend to
the sound control.
